Can the vehicle registration be extended?

Can the vehicle registration be extended?
According to the California DMV website this was possible, this extension has since past, read on for more details.  During Covid-19 many DMV offices were temporarily closed during the pandemic.  DMV was offering Californians more time to complete vehicle registration transactions without worrying about late fees and penalties.  Registration extensions apply to the following.  We waiving late fees and penalties for vehicle registration renewals due between March 16th and may 209-537-7782, as long as you renew your registration within 60 days of the original expiration date.  If your registration expired on or after March 16th 2020 and you already paid late fees/penalties DMV will issue a refund.  Complex registration renewals often require additional documentation and may be denied.  Your vehicle must also pas the smog test before you receive your new registration and sticker.  During this time frame the DMV made other accommodations for vehicle ownership transfers, out of state vehicle registrations, motor carrier permits and temporary operating permits.
